Poker for free

Poker is a relatively easy game - you need only 5 minutes to get to know its rules. Obviously, in order to become a professional player you need training, but apart from some free time and a little amount of money for a start, there are no other limitations.

Even the best guidebooks won't make you a World Series of Poker champion. In order to achieve success you have to master different strategies and simply play as often as possible. We can only draw your attention to a few basic but at the same time extremely important things you haven't though about or realized of before. It will help you protect from greater loss of money or, if you encounter some weaker players, help you defeat them.

Be patient and play wisely.
Choose your two starting hands carefully and do not yield to temptation of playing too many hands. If you hold some weak cards and you think they may be worse than those of your opponents - simply fold. If you don't learn when to fold you will end up losing great amounts of money. There is an old and classic saying that states; Don't Hold em! Fold em! This is absolute true and it is the basic principle you should understand about this game. But in order to follow this rule you should also understand which cards to fold. It's not worth playing every cards. Do not play K4 only because the K is a strong card. Wait until a K comes with another K or with an A. Then enter the game aggressively! At the very beginning of Holdem, limit your starting hands to: AA, KK, QQ, AK, AQ, AJ, JJ, 10-10. After some time, when you have become more experienced, you will be able to broaden your range of hands (A10, A9, A8, KQ, low pairs).
Another aspect is the Flop. The Flop is one of the most crucial stage as the 3 out of the 5 community cards are revealed and the players that achieve a connection to the Flop start betting the pot. So there is no need to keep betting if you don't make a connection to the Flop. The only exception to this is if you have a quite strong hand or draw to strong hand.

To sum up, play according to simple rule: you only enter a game with strong cards and, if you hold a good hand, do bet! Leave bluffs and aggressive raises to professionals. Only in this way you may have a chance of becoming one of them.

Get to know your opponent.
Watch your opponents game and try to determine the style of their game - it will allow you to take right decisions. Decide whether they are careful but at the same time aggresive players (tight-aggressive) or, on the contrary, whether you have to do with an aggressive maniac (loose-aggressive) who bet and raises regardless of cards they hold. Poker is not only about your cards - it is reading your opponent and their behaviour as well as a trial of estimating their hand. If you are successful in determining your opponent, it will make the game easier and significantly increase your chances of winning.

Manage your bankroll.
Avoid bankruptcy through appropriate management of your bankroll according to a few simple rules. When you play at 0,5/1$ fixed limit tables, then your bankroll is minimum 300$ and 500$ optimally. When you lose, do not try to make up for it but just end the game. When you lose what you have won before, go back to the lower limit and keep winning until you are able to play at higher limit tables again.

Our suggestions are only basic principles - if you want to broaden your knowledge of poker, refer to specialist books, visit poker strategy websites and practise by playing online.
